Abstract: Hiring and onboarding new employees is a continuous process for organizations. Ensuring that new hires are integrated quickly and effectively is an essential, but often neglected, process. A positive socialization experience benefits not only the new hires but also the entire organization. Academic research has identified the importance of robust Newcomer Organizational Socialization (NOS), yet poor experiences continue to be very common. We hope to convene scholars with an interest in NOS to consider how the field of inquiry may be nudged to become more newcomer-centered and how best practices identified through research may be more widely shared with practitioners.
